Job description
The server provides service at their station. They inform customers about the menu, set menus, and wines, and offer advice to ensure their satisfaction.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Ensures the sales area is set up properly.
- Is familiar with the menu (food and beverages) and/or the contents of the buffet to be able to answer customers’ questions.
- Is aware of allergens present in dishes and beverages to advise customers in case of allergies.
- Knows the wine list and can advise customers on wine pairings based on their chosen dishes.
- Informs customers about any special menus or daily specials.
- Complies with laws regarding the sale of alcohol.
- Takes and enters customer orders into the software.
- Ensures that dishes match the order and are served in a timely manner.
- Clears and cleans tables.
- Ensures proper payment collection from their tables.
- Ensures a smooth handover of duties to colleagues at the end of their shift.
- Ensures the cleanliness and proper setup of the area surrounding their workstation.
- As a true sales professional, he/she helps promote the restaurant.
- Maintains impeccable appearance and demeanor.
- May be responsible for managing napkin distribution, customer service, and the cleanliness of the dining area.
